Born in 1962, Christophe Zellweger studied in Geneva, obtaining a licence in Commercial and Industrial Sciences in 1985, a diploma from the Institut des Études Immobilières in 1987 and a licence in Law in 1988.

After completing his legal traineeship in 1989 and 1990, he qualified as a lawyer in 1991.

After further developing his financial expertise during his two years as a financial analyst at a Geneva-based private bank, and subsequently gaining extensive experience in commercial law at leading business law firms in Geneva, Mr Christophe Zellweger decided in 2001 to pursue his legal career in a smaller, more personal practice. He co-founded Boillat & Zellweger, which continues to practise today under its current name, Zellweger & Associés Avocats.

His background in business law and banking gives him a strong command of financial and accounting matters. This expertise regularly leads to his appointment by the Tribunal de première instance in proceedings involving distressed businesses and restructuring, including postponement of bankruptcy and composition moratoria.

Drawing on his training at Geneva’s Institut des Études Immobilières, he has also handled numerous property matters for estate agencies, developers and architects, covering private construction law and public planning law.

For many years, he served as a deputy judge at the Tribunal de protection de l’adulte et de l’enfant (TPAE), Geneva’s adult and child protection court.

Over the years, he has built a network of correspondent lawyers who can assist his clients with foreign law, tax law and intellectual property matters.

Mr Christophe Zellweger has now significantly scaled back his professional activities and continues to oversee a limited number of matters in an Of Counsel capacity.
