Elisabeth Bernard obtained a licence in Law from the University of Geneva before completing her legal traineeship at Geneva law firms, working primarily on civil, criminal and administrative litigation.

She qualified as a lawyer in 2008.

For nearly ten years, she worked as a legal adviser in the police legal department, subsequently becoming its head. Her responsibilities included disciplinary proceedings, administrative litigation, teaching criminal law at the police academy, implementing legislation and regulations internally, providing legal support to police departments and representing police officers in administrative detention matters.

She also worked as a legal adviser in the legal department of the contraventions service, drafting summary penalty orders and appeals.

Since 2024, she has regularly sat as a deputy judge at the Tribunal de protection de l’adulte et de l’enfant (TPAE), Geneva’s adult and child protection court.

Admitted to the Geneva Bar, Elisabeth Bernard specialises in adult and child protection.
